Punjab’s CM Prakash Singh Badal on Sunday
inaugurated the ‘Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum’ dedicated to the
heroes of the state who have sacrificed their lives for the Nation. During the
inauguration he said “this state-of-the-art memorial would be a befitting
tribute to commemorate the remarkable contribution made by the Punjabi soldiers
and officers to defend the sovereignty of the country surpassing the long
period of more than 600 years right from the times of sixth Guru of Sikhs Sri
Guru Hargobind Singh Ji till Kargil war”.
Punjab government has spent over 100 crore on this
project that honors our soldiers and martyrs which is over a spread of 7 acres
on the Amritsar-Attari road. The museum has eight galleries depicting the themes
from the times of Guru Hargobind Singh, till the Kargil war of 1999. Museum
also includes ‘Sherman’ and ‘Patton’ tanks that were captured during the war of
1965. With this names of 3,500 martyrs are inscribed on the memorial/
It is the first time in the history of the nation
that a memorial has been constructed to pay tribute to our soldiers and
officers. The Punjab government has dedicated the memorial to the nation.
